GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

FEBRUARY 7, 2008

Meghann called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Roger gave his report.  We have 481 paid members.  Last year we had 547.

Debbie gave the report concerning the recycling.  She encouraged those that are interested to sign the sheet at the door.  We need about 100 households and right now we have about 20 that want recycling.

There was some discussion about recycling bins.  Some want them at the shopping center on Breckenridge Lane.  Others said they did not want them because people leave such a mess around the bins.

Meghann announced that we received Beautification Money from Brightside.  The committee needs help putting something together.

David and Joe presented banners that we could place throughout the neighborhood.  If we go through Kevin Kramer’s office we could ask for funds to help with the cost. David and Joe will report back with exact costs.

Meghann informed the meeting that she will be moving to Shelbyville and that David will become President.

Bob Clinard presented his address signs.  They reflect at night, are maintenance free, and he installs them.  Cost to BENA members $34.95.

Officer Leonard did a Home Safety presentation.  The emphasis was on locking doors to your home and auto and turning outside lights on in the evening.   Officer Leonard said he would be glad to come to anyone’s home and do an inspection.

We then had an open forum.  Parking issues were discussed.  David is going to contact some swim clubs in the area and see if we can get a discount for our members.

Kevin Kramer made an appearance to thank Meghann for all she has done to get BENA up and going.

Meghann adjourned the meeting.

Respectfully Submitted

BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

JANUARY 10, 2008

Meghann called the meeting to order.

Roger gave the financial report.  We have $32,229.74 in the bank.  403 members have paid.  130 are delinquent.  We will turn the delinquent names over to ID on February 1, 2008.

Phase III of the lights is completed.  Roger reported that he has not received bills from phase III yet.

Tom Higdon is going to go off of the Board of Directors.  He will remain active on the Lighting Committee, but Albert Hampton will now chair that committee.  The next meeting of the Lighting Committee will be in February.

Yard Sale will be May 10th and junk pick up will be May 15th.

Debbie reported that there were very few reports of crime in the neighborhood during Christmas.  The Neighborhood Watch committee will look into moving some of the neighborhood watch signs to other locations.

There is a gentleman who wishes to sell house number signs in the neighborhood.  We are going to get a discount price from him.  We hope to present something at the next General Meeting.

We now have money for Beautification.  David will call Cheryl Wofford the Chair of that committee and see what her plans are.

There were only 3 contestants in the door decoration at Christmas.  We may do the contest a little differently next year.

There was no activity with Youth Board or Service Board.

We will ask in the newsletter if there is any interest in a neighborhood directory.  We can discuss this at next General Meeting.

Joe will get information about banners that we could put up in the neighborhood with Breckenridge Estates on them.

Meghann reported that Eric would host the web site when she moves away, but someone else will have to keep it up.

Report was made that we could not meet at Buechel Fire House on February 7, 2008.  The Board voted to ask Midlane Park Baptist Church if we could use their facility.

Debbie will see if Officer Leonard or someone else from the police department can attend the meeting.

In 2008 we need to work on a membership and welcoming committee.

Joe brought some letters to remind those who had not paid dues to do so.  He shared them with other members who wished to pass them out to those in their area who had not paid.

Meeting adjourned.

Respectfully Submitted,

BRECKENRIDGE ESTATES NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

OCTOBER 11, 2007

Meghann called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Roger was not present and had not given the Treasurers’ report to anyone so we did not have a report.

Picnic Report:  Some problems with getting everything set up where we wanted it, there was some miscommunication.  Aside from that things went pretty well. There were a little over 100 people there and everyone who came and braved the heat seemed to have a good time.  A real learning experience.  Each year the picnic gets bigger and better.

Trash:  We have not received a contract yet.  We are going to poll the membership about recycling.  We think there is more interest than I D knows about.  Meghann is going to let membership know that the fire station on Hikes Lane west of Klondike Lane has a place to recycle.

Phase III of lights has started.

Neighborhood watch signs are up.  We would like some of them moved to other locations.  Charlie Durham says he can move them.

Criminal activity in the neighborhood was discussed briefly.  We also discussed possibility of Shops in the Shopping Center forming a Business Watch.

Beautification Committee:  We have received a check from Bright side for $1,350.00.  This is a grant to be used in the neighborhood for flowers, plants, and other things to make neighborhood more appealing.

Annual meeting will be November 15, 2007 at St Michael’s Church.  We need to elect a Vice President and Secretary.  Meghann thinks a gentleman named John Blackford may run for Vice President.  Susan will run again for Secretary.

Those on the Board of Directors will all run again except for Ruth Spears.  Dow Buford will be added to Board.  Eric Woodland will be doing Web Site after Meghann moves so he will also be running for a board seat.  Tom Higdon, Phyllis Webb, and Kathleen Barker will still have to be asked if they wish to remain on the Board.

Debbie will check and see if Officer Leonard will send someone from Police Department to be a meeting just to answer questions.

We will be able to go back to the fire house after the 1st of the year.  We will not be able to move any furniture.  The problem we had there before was they had just waxed floor and we drug a table across the floor.

Meetings were set for 2008:

General Meeting           Buechel Fire Station*                            February 4th

General Meeting           Buechel Fire Station*                            November 13th

(Elections)

*We still need to make arrangements with the Fire House.

We will have a door decoration contest again this year.  We will try to get a donated prize. David will make a sign to put in the yard of the winner.

We will continue our spring and fall yard sales for now.

We will pass out flyers for November meeting.  There will be a page that is like a reminder of dues.  An envelope will be given out with this page.  We will also include some sort of ballot on that page.

Meghann explained her hopes for some sort of youth board and involvement in the neighborhood association.  Something will be put in the newsletter about the youth.  There will also be something asking if anyone knows of any families with someone in military on active duty.  Some of these families could perhaps use some help with chores around the house.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.

BRECKENRIDGE ESTATES NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

JULY 12, 2007

Meghann called the meeting to order.

Roger gave the financial report.  We now have 513 members.

Debbie reported on the Trash Committee.  They will be meeting and requesting email bids from the garbage companies.  They will be looking at the cost and customer service when choosing a company.

Debbie reported on the Neighborhood Watch.  August 7th is National Night Out.  The 6th division will  sponsor  a cookout at Loew’s at Bashford Manor. Debbie is planning a meeting in hopes of having something in our neighborhood also.  The cookout is from 6:00pm to 8:00pm so whatever is planned will be after 8:00.

Debbie also asked that we be on the lookout for thieves taking copper tubing off of wiring in telephone poles.  This is very dangerous for homeowners who live near these exposed wires.  Please call the police and LG&E if you see anything suspicious or a pole with exposed wiring.

The Lighting Committee reported that Phase III is underway.  We will not be putting a light at Manner Gate and Breckenridge Lane because the property owner refused to allow it.  The light in the middle of the block on Crawfordshire is on hold.  We need to get an easement right of way in order to put up a light there.

Beautification Committee is still trying to get together Clancy, Christi, and Charlie Freville will try to get things going.

Activities Committee report was made by Meghann.  We will have the picnic September 22, 2007 from 4:00 to 7:00 at Hunsinger Lane Baptist Church.   For $175.00 they will let us use their facilities and grounds.  We will rent bouncies for the kids and supply chicken, drinks, paper products and utensils for the picnic.  The motion was made to do so for a cost of approximately $725.00.  Motion passed.

The Shopping Center and Thieneman’s office were discussed.  We are still talking about approaching him about fixing up the Shopping Center.  Tabled for now.

We discussed the next General Meeting.  We can not have it at Buechel Fire Station because they have asked us not to come back.  There was a misunderstanding the last time we were there.  We are trying to work it out with them, but for now we must meet elsewhere.  A motion was made that we hold our August 9th meeting at St. Michael’s Greek Orthodox Church at a cost of $100.00.  Motion carried. Susan and Charlie Toon will get the key and make sure the Church is open for the meeting.

We discussed the fact that both our President and Treasurer will be moving.  We have someone to take over the Web site.  Meghann will bring him on board as soon as possible.  We all have to start thinking about who will be taking over these jobs in the future.

Yard sale will be September 29th with junk pickup on October 4th.

We will start looking for Microsoft Publisher softwear to purchase for the association so that David can take over the newsletter.

Meghann reminded everyone she needed articles and ads for the newsletter by July 30th.

Michelle Gay brought up some of the problems with clean up after accidents at Breckenridge Lane and Manner Dale Dr.  Meghann has been contacting people no one claims to be responsible.  We will continue to explore this problem.

Meeting adjourned 8:00 pm

Garbage:  Contract with ID will expire October 1, 2007.  Debbie will be looking into this.

Lights:  Committee will meet to plan new lights especially concerning Crawfordshire.

Neighborhood Watch:  Discussed the robbery at the BP.  Talked about National City moving out.  Debbie gave us Chief White’s phone number 574-2404.  We discussed that it would be nice if information went both ways - us to police and police back to the neighborhood.  If you see High School kids out on street when they should be in school call Seneca High School.  If you see Middle School kids call Myers Middle School.

Steve and Debbie will be attending Kevin Kramer’s meeting on Saturday January 20, 2007 as our representatives.

Jim Lueken then asked if we could discuss trash and old cars and other problems around 3402 and 3404 Breckenridge Lane.  He and Charlie Toon have reported cars etc to police.  This continues to be an eyesore and possible breeding place for the rats.

We discussed things we did in 2006.  One focus for this year is the shopping center could we get government help getting it fixed up.  Another focus is beautification.  We also want to put more emphasis on committees and getting people from general membership on our committees.

Meghann needs advertising for newsletter by February 1, 2007.  Hope we can distribute newsletter weekend before February 15th meeting.

Plans for February meeting:  Health Department to discuss rats. Hold the Elections.  We will see if Officer Leonard or anyone else from police can come and be available in the half hour meet and greet period.  Susan and Joe will be sure there will be refreshments available.

We can get 2 neighborhood watch signs immediately we will have them placed at Woodgate and Six Mile and Landside and Woodgate.  Then when the signs Kevin Kramer buys us are available we will decide where they need to be placed.
