BRECKENRIDGE ESTATES NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

JULY 8, 2010

David opened the meeting at 6:40 p.m.

Minutes were read, discussed and approved.

Treasurer’s report was read, discussed and approved.

Lighting:  The association may have to start paying the street light at Nora.  The home owner, who has been paying, passed away.  There is concern that the light at Manner Dale and Hunsinger is not bright enough.  Al will research to see if this is a light that the association is now paying for.  Motion was made, seconded and passed that if we are paying for this light, Al will ask LG&E to increase the wattage.  If we are not responsible for this light we will revisit this issue at the next board meeting.

We discussed perhaps adding a light to the west side of Breckenridge Lane between Manner Gate and Manner Dale.

ID sent out bills with an incorrect charge.  If anyone overpaid they will be reimbursed on the next bill.

David reminded everyone to let Carl know if anyone new moves into the neighborhood.

Beautification:  The committee is moving along.  Student artists have been contacted.  After the area is cleared and the wall is cleaned, painting will begin.  Hope that all of this will be complete by the time school starts in mid August.  Permits for the beautification project are in the works.  Information about this project will be discussed in the next newsletter.

Block Watch:   Vandalism is the biggest problem this summer.  National Night Out is August 3rd

Website:  Debbie has added a lost and found section to our Website.

The annual Picnic will be September 25th at Hunsinger Lane Baptist Church.  David asked for a show of hands for picnic committee volunteers.

The yard sale will be October 9th.   The Junk Pick Up will be October 14th.

The 4 way stop at Graf and Pomeroy is a go.  All paper work has been filed.

There was a lively discussion of vacant homes in our neighborhood.  We discussed what we could do as an association and as concerned home owners.

David reminded everyone of the next General Meeting August 12th

David adjourned the meeting at 8:10 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Susan Clifton

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

MAY 13, 2010

David opened the meeting at 7:00 P.M.

David welcomed everyone, including Lt. Simpson and Erin Henson.  He then thanked Hunsinger Lane Baptist Church for allowing us to use their facilities as a meeting place.

Clancy reported that we have 520 plus paid members.  We have a balance of $30,608.27.

Speed humps were discussed.  David explained that BENA and Kevin Kramer’s office had paid for 12 Speed Humps.  Metro government has decided that only 11 speed humps need to be installed.  (Woodgate will get 1 less speed hump than originally planned)  In the mean time a survey has been concluded on Manner Dale Drive between Woodgate and Pomeroy.  Metro government has determined that 2 speed humps can be installed in this section of Manner Dale Drive.  A motion was made by Debbie McKnight to install the 12th speed hump (that funds have already been allotted) on Manner Dale and for the association to allot the extra funds ($1,050.00) for the additional speed hump on Manner Dale (with the understanding that Councilman Kramer’s office will pay their half).  George Timmering seconded the motion.  There was discussion and the motion carried.

A petition will have to be signed and at least 70% of the home owners on that block will have to agree to the speed humps before we can proceed.

The project to install a 4 way stop at Graf and Pomeroy is completed.  The petition has been signed and turned over to the proper authorities.

We have $1500.00 from Councilman Kramer’s office to do something with the wall on Breckenridge Lane just north of Manner Gate Drive. David asked for volunteers to clean and paint the wall a basic color.  After that the beautification committee can begin to explore options.  Erin did mention that there could be High School and Summer Camp groups available to do artwork etc. on the wall.

Work on the railroad overpass will begin soon.  BENA will help maintain the area once it is finished.

Al asked members to let him know about any dark spots in the neighborhood.

The picnic will be in September.  We will need help planning and setting up.

There was a special recognition for Graham Honaker for the help is has been over the years.

Lt. Simpson addressed the group.  He asked that everyone keep your houses and cars locked.  Keep valuables out of sight.  Report anything suspicious to the police.

Open Forum:   This included a lively discussion of parking problems in the neighborhood and machinery on Manner Gate Drive

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 P.M.

Respectfully Submitted,

Susan Clifton,

Secretary
