GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

NOVEMBER 12, 2009

David called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and welcomed everyone.

Elections were held.  Carl Owens was reelected Vice President and Susan Clifton was reelected Secretary.  The Board was introduced and reelected.

Clancy gave the Treasurers Report.  As of October 31st we have $35,067.05 in the bank.  We have 531 paid members for 2009.  We are just starting to collect 2010 dues.

We have set aside enough money for 6speed humps.

Debbie reported that we still need more people to sign up for recycling.  ID says that it will take about 100 homes to make it worthwhile.  We have almost 50 people who have signed up for recycling.

Cheryl Wolford reported that our request for a grant from Brightside was refused.  Councilman Kramer is going to give us $1500.00 from his funds for beautification.  One possibility is to do something to the wall that runs parallel to Breckenridge Lane north of Manner Gate Drive.  We already have the blessing of Metro Government to do some painting (perhaps a mural).  The 3 common areas where we have plants are doing well.  Al Hampton winterized the gardens for us this year.

Al reported that the association is now paying for 50 lights.  He encouraged everyone to keep their outside lights on.  He asked that anyone report any dark spots in the neighborhood.  Then when we decide to add more lights we will know the best places to put the lights.

David then introduced Sgt. Renee Briggs.  Sgt Briggs reminded us to be careful during the holidays.  People will be watching cars for packages.  She encouraged us to take pictures and write down serial numbers of all new electronics.  She reminded us not to put cardboard boxes at the curb, because then everyone will know what new items you have in your home.  She encouraged us to be vigilant and willing to call the police if we see anything out of the ordinary.

David then introduced Graham Honaker.  Graham gave us an update on what is going on in the 11th District.  There have been upgrades at Buechel Park including new tennis courts.  Sidewalks and curbs have been added on Bardstown Rd in Buechel.  Work will soon begin on the train trestle across Breckenridge Lane south of Six Mile Lane.   Once the landscaping work is finished in this area Kevin Kramer will be looking for a neighborhood group to help keep everything going.  Cheryl and David were concerned about the availability of water.  Graham will be asking the state if there is anything that can be done to have access to water at the site.  This is something we will discuss later.

Carl reported that the welcoming committee visited 4 families.  Let him know if anyone new moves into the neighborhood.

David let everyone know that he is always looking for articles for the newsletter.

Debbie reminded everyone that they could sign up for the Block Watch email list.

David encouraged everyone to look at the updated website.

Al finished his lighting report:  Phase IV is complete.  Plans will begin on Phase V.  Al encouraged the membership again  to let him know if there is an area in need of more light.

David reported that there is a petition to make the intersection of Pomeroy and Graf a 4 way stop.

 Door prizes were awarded.

 Meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m.

 Respectfully Submitted

Susan Clifton

Secretary

Thank you for the update; can you tell me when and where the speed humps are to be located? There was another (third) incident in front of our home (4201 Manner Dale) on New Years Day afternoon; if there had been a speed hump, this guy would have slowed and he wouldn’t have taken out the power pole at our drive, landing 2 doors up wedged in the landscape at the house/porch.

Mary,
I just found out the city is going to be doing a speed hump survey for Manner Dale within the next few weeks. This will let us know if Manner Dale is a candidate for speed humps. There several more steps to this process if the street meets speed hump requirements. Also the police have been notified of the problem and we should be seeing increased traffic enforcement on Manner Dale. The sixth division will have officers at our Feb. 11 meeting to discuss the issue also. Thank you for your comments, they are really appreciated.

Thank you Eric Honaker and Kevin Kramer for your assistance in keeping the 25 mph limit on Manner Dale between Breckenridge Lane and the light at Summerfield/Six Mile Lane. Families that live along this stretch of roadway appreciate the slower speed so we can safely exit or enter or driveways. I would like to see one or two speed bumps installed along this roadway, but understand that this may not happen. Hopefully with more presents of the police enforcing the posted 25 mph will slow the speeders down. Also we need to enforce to those who travel through our residential section that the center lane on Manner Dale is not a through lane or a passing lane, but a lane added to assist those who live along this roadway to enter or exit their residence.
Again, thank you BENA for all your efforts to make our neighborhood a wonderful place to live.
